The Lord Alps Those...

Day 19 Vervey - 18.8.05
Now yesterday was easy in every way shape and form - we had just trained in passing one of the harder climbs of this trip, rode with a lovley tail wind downhill - it couldnt have been more of a breeze. Today was different. Very different.

We started off nice and early at 9am and changed course to north west of the town, slowly working our way up, and up, and up... we climbed out of busy cityscape of Vevey and into the quiter farmlands. It was hard work! Infact after an hour of climbing we had only done 10km! we contined until we eventually platoed and started to pick up speed. From there it was a much smoother ride, sitting on 35-40km/hr, slingshotting up small hills, we started to get our time back.

Now the scenery was amazing yesterday, but we worked hard to get up there, and let me tell you, when you earn your place, the feeling cant be beat. Now overlooking the other side of the apls, running along a pristine river. Words just cant describe it. We sailed on and met up with mum for lunch at 2 and continued in a simular fashion to end up with a nice 120 km for the day.

OK, we're not great cyclists, but not that bad, right? 10km in 1.5 hours? that cant be right. Oh wait, did I mention our total climbing for the day was 990m!
