The Lord Alps Those... News from the Lil' Cog
Day 18 Geneva - 17.8.05 After a collision of unforunante events leading to a brisk train trip, we renewed our journey in Geneva - Welcome to Switzerland! Now knowing accomodation wasnt cheap we were even more determined to ride on. After a rather acomplished mechanic repaired dad's pretzel we set off at about 2pm.Whilst riding through suburbia we latched ourselfes onto a deceivingly elderly man who cleverly hid V6 engines in his legs, nedless to say we did that stretch with ease.

The thing about touring is that the best parts are often the ones you don't plan, and we certainly didnt expect such scenery. We stopped for a quick bite at a lovely lakeside park overlooking lake Geneva and casting out onto the french alps opposite. Breathtaking. As we continued it only got better, what was once a shadowy, fog-ridden blur slowly focused into monolothic mountains. Coupled with the rolling hills of our destination, Vevey, littered with small cottages, wineries and hillside mansions. Not to mention our slow decent and gracious weather making for a euphoricly pleasant ride. We were only a few meters from Montreux and as the song says - there was smoke on the water.
An easy 91km, 22.6 avg. Ascent 150m, Altitude 350m
