Anchors Aweigh - Sail to Holland! News from the Big Cog
Day 2 Hawich- 1.8.05
Peter had two flats, rear then front. We rode 1k to port. Stena line and lined up with about 20 bikes in cold and slight rain observed all different touring styles. Mostly wider tyres, a tandem and a very weathered thin German guy on an old colnago and lots of stretch straps. It was a buzz to ride on to the worlds largest fast ferry as a sort of pelaton. Saw the grin on Daniels face.
We had a look round ferry - really a portable city. Plenty of different food outlets. Casino, bars, Dan and I saw the new batman movie in one of the 3 cinemas. The car chase scenes were greatly enhanced by the swaying of the boat. Landed late in day only had time for ride to Den Haag but we immediately knew we were in the right country.

Smooth bike paths, well marked with directions and km green, lush, animals, farms, lots of riders and walkers on paths. Den Haag bigger than expected. Checked into hotel and took tram to Madurodam- miniature representation of Holand.dinner and then a session of sorting our gear to see what we could do without. Dan & I both threw out a few things. More may go later.
Stats Dist 22 Km, Average 14km/hr, Max ND, Climb um...Holland?
