Hungry like the Wolf
News from the Big Cog

Day 34 Graz - 1.9.05

Determined to avoid the motorway today, we chose a route that looped to Voitsberg and Koflach despite encountering a number of climbs. We'd lost our fear. There were lots of towns ending in ---berg (mountain) instead of ---burg (town). That what you get in that part of Austria. The conditions were pleasant and the scenery and cakes were good, and for each climb there was a decent.

The climb to Pack was the hardest with a 10% listing on the map. The road signs let us down at one point, sending us on a 10km detour to a freeway but we just came back an got some directions and eventually made our way into Wolfsberg. The town was small with a few squares with statues and a lovely feel to it. We had 3 Kebaps and a quiet night of digestion.

Stats Dist 130 Km, Average 19km/hr, Max 68km/hr. Climb 815m
