Rollin' on the River
News from the Big Cog

Day 33 Muzzushlag - 31.8.05

The hotel was more of a family pub and the friendly owner told us of a bike path only 100 meters away, over a bridge, that would take us all the way to Graz. He was right and we found signs for Murradweg 2 (Mur -the river, rad - bike, weg -way). The signs were sometimes illusive and we lost the path at times and would press on by road only to rejoin the path.

A cake at Knolberg and lunch at Sohnleiter kept us going. The route was glorious. At times we rode by the river through masses of wild flowers, then we would climb behind small towns into forests. For me this was better than the Donau path. Narrower but still a good surface for our narrow tyres. Quieter but still the occasional cyclist to ride with, chat to of greet, going the other way. I didn't want it to end, but like all things...
Casually (and muddy in Daniel's case) we made our way into Graz.

Stats Dist 92 Km, Average 21km/hr, Max 62km/hr, Climb 410m
